I like some feed back on my 1970 Barracuda build
« on: January 11, 2010 - 08:21:38 PM »
am finely ready to order me rearend and rims

I read a lot here on Cuda-challenger, but I  like some feedback on my choice. Just to be 100% sure this is the right decision  :clueless: And I haven’t missed anything! :banghead:
Your feedback I appreciated, and I am not home to measure the car (working in Miami)!

My car is a 1970 Barracuda with power steering and 1.12 torsion bars.:

I will order the Strange Dana 60 with the Drum face to Drum face (59 ½ = B-body, that should be 1 ¼”  shorter than an E-Body) the Leaf spring mounts will be mounted as a B-body center center 44” that means each side is moved in 1” compared to E-body (I will use 1” offset sharkels and hangers)

I like to Buy the Coy’s C-5

Front 18X8 BS 4,5  with 245/40/18  (25,7 tall)
For the front, I can get 18X7, but there is the BS only 4 ¼ , so I hope 18X8 will fit with no rubbing!

Rear 18X9,5 BS 5   With 275/40/18  (26,7 tall)
I like to run 295/40/18  (27,3 tall) that also gets me closer to 28”.
What do your guys recommend???, Can I run the 295/40/18 with no rubbing, (How mush space will I have on each side of the 295 tier ????)
It is ok if I have to use a small spacer!. I just don’t want any rubbing. I bought the Firmfeel H.D leaf springs, that should lower the car 1” they say, hope that is no a problem (or else I will fabricate some hangers and sharkels to get it back to stock hight!). I can also get the 18X9,5 with BS of 5,5”, will that be better? but with the shortend rearend I chose the 5” BS .

 :feedback:

Thanks for you feedback. it helps me decide what to buy  :clueless:

a 295 50 15 will just fit in a stock wheelwell so with the springs moved in & the correct offset to match the 295 should be an easy fit , the height will definatly fit as a lot of people use the 275 60 which is 29 " tall
