340 TA Block

Got a call from a guy wanting to know if I'm interested in a complete 340 T/A short block.  He claims it's Std Bore. and not hurt.  So, WIW?

The last one I bought was when the market was higher, $1200.00 for a bare block & main caps. It had already been magna-fluxed to check for damage & came with the report at that price.

What is the VIN on it? It  would be worth more to the owner of the matching car if it still exists.

I would love to have a TA engine in mine or just a really good 340 that is strong.

Don't have the VIN.  Was a little concerned about raising too many questions and the impact on price.

I wish I could find one for 1200. in an up market.

Best I have found so far is 4k for an unharmed short block.

I have seen that price two or three times a year.

A few times I have seen them as much as 10K.

Why?  I don't know.  Must have been T/A gold.

What a lot of folks do not realize is that if one of these cars was wrecked or rusted away back in the day, people saved the engines. Chrysler even had leftover blocks they used up in 1971 cars. Replacement blocks were available over the counter until the inventory dried up about 1980 or so.

So......

There are more T/A engines out there than original cars that need them.
