Mallory Electric Fuel Pump Install Help
« on: January 17, 2010 - 12:30:24 AM »
I just bought a Mallory 140 pump and was working on how best to install it on my 71 Cuda.  I'm using the original style tank.  It looks like fabricating a bracket to hang off the shock support brace in front of the tank would work but I was hoping to get some recommendations from someone that has already done this.  I'm using a Fram fuel filter between the tank and the pump and a return line off the regulator.

I have the 110 mounted in exactly this place.  Don't have the Fram in front of it, though.  Looking for a picture I assume?

For better flow always place the fuel filter on the pressure side of a fuel pump.    :2cents:  I personally don't like fram filters, had too many problems due to quality issues.    :bricks1:

A picture would be great and maybe a little detail on the bracket you used.

My pump is mounted on an isoloated mount that I built.  The body-end of the mount uses a steel plate to sandwich a rubber section of conveyor belt.  The pump end uses a steel plate to sandwich the belt to the pump body.

I added another section of rubber around the front to minimize nicks dings and other damage from road debris.  Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for the pictures, I like the isolator you used!  I'm mounting a fuel filter between the tank and the pump with another filter after the regulator going to the carb.  For fuel lines I'm using #6 braided steel lines for both the supply and return.  I would used steel but bending lines just isn't a skill I have.

Buy a section with the intention of destroying it.  It's actually not bad once you get the hang of it...just need a decent bender and a little patience.

Do spend extra on a good (Rigid) double flaring tool...can't think of a quicker way to practice cursing than to use a bad one.
