Need rear sway bar length measurement?
« on: January 24, 2010 - 12:59:04 AM »
I am looking at the salvage yard for a sway bar to retrofit to my barracuda. I was wondering if anyone had a bar or knew the length of the factory rear sway bar?

I've got 2 of these in my basement right now. Between connecting link centers one bar is 46 1/4" and the other is 46 1/2". Obviously one of them is slightly bent but that should give you an idea. I'll be more than glad to give you any other dimensions if you want.

You're welcome, I wish one of them wasn't bent though.

you should measure at outside of the first bend, after the forged 0 ends. It looks like the real thing, and there is nothing that looks similar, other than the after market. you may find the holes in the frame pre- drilled for the factory bar.  I found one for an a-body with the same attachment points on the frame.
They claim less un-sprung weight. And poly bushings, $ 300+, yipes it was $130 complete for E-body, at a mopar parts counter for replacement parts in 1976.
I love it for centering the car over the axle.+ stability under acceleration.
