Steering shaft fitting properly?

I have the same problems as most others with big block headers. They hit the torsion bar in several places and the steering box. Is the shaft fitment proper? It looks like it is not centered properly in the firewall grommet/seal.

After looking at mine awhile I figured out that the passenger side was sitting lower. I loosened the bolts for the mounts to the k-frame and jacked up the engine and made a shim for the passenger side. I helped quite a bit! Not perfect yet still messing with it. Maybe that gives you some idea's?

the firewall plate will float on oversized hole to center the shaft in the column but that won't help header clearance
