Dr Diff 1.25 relo kit with a Hotchkis rear sway bar?
« on: January 25, 2010 - 11:54:04 PM »
Does anyone know if a Dr Diff 1.25" relocation kit can be used in combonation with a Hotchkis rear sway bar?

It looks like it would be close.

not a fan of the sway bars that attach to the diff & link to the frame , the factory design is superior & the bars can be tweaked to match the spring widths

Chryco,

are there inherent differences in the performace of the two sway bars set ups? How can an original set up be tweaked? Would you say Firm Feel is the way to go?

To keep your stock sway bar, you can mod the lower plate 1.25" like I did here:

It shows how I made these on page 9 of my resto thread.  I also show how I made my own offset front spring perches.  I bought Dr. Diff's offset rear shackles, when I saw him at the Nationals, for $50.

Thanks Shelby, great work.

Unfortunately I do not have a stock bar to work with. That's why I was looking at the Hotchkis sway bar, it looks like it would work, especially now that they offer a flat bolt head for clearing a relo'd set of springs.

With the hollow, adjustable design of the Hotchkis unit, it won't weigh much more than the stock link plates. With a solid bar the weight would be more pronounced, but the benefit of the bar would probably feel better and be more noticeable than the addition in weight.

Performance wise, not a big difference. Typically, axle hung bars are higher in gross force than the stock style bars, but the differences in attachement methods brings the applied wheel rates very close to each other

I agree. And the Hotchkis car is adjustable.

I can pick up the hotchkis rear bar with my pinky finger.
