New tires suggestions

Hello again I am looking in to getting a new set of shoes for my 73 Challenger finely installed the engine and its now drivable.   Now would love to here some suggestions from the experts as to what size i should be looking for this will be for standard street use " some import killing included ".

I am running deluxe classic lx 195/75r14s with Magnum 500 rims, that have been on the car since 89 when it was last on the road  all the way around. I am looking for more of a good traction in wet weather because of the rain we get here in Ks so a good mix of both straight line and cornering is what i need kinda a best of both world or at least better than those skinny's i have on now.

If your keeping the 14" rims, which I'd guess to be about 6" wide at best, choice may be severly limited to what sizes are even available. With that in mind and knowing that 14" sizes are not going to offer anything close to ultimate anything, almost any choice would be good so long as they are round. The rim width will likely limit any choice you have to a 225 or 235 max width.

As HP2 said, you are going to be limited in buying 14" tires. It's not like the old days anymore. I have 14X6 Rally's on the front of mine with 70 series tires 225's. I went for the most meat I could get on the rim. The other thing here is your tires are 20 years old so that is another good reason to change them.

I fit 23560R14 Firehawk tires on my car. I think that is the most tire you can safely put on the 14" rally rims. IMO they are a more capable tire than BFG T/A's. The only downside is they say INDY 500 on the side

My advice would be to go to 15x7 in the front and 15x8 in the rear, using 235/60-15 front tires and 255/60-15 in the rear.  I think that gives it the perfect stance.  You could maybe go up to a 275 in the rear.

Thanks all for the reply's guys! I am going to go have a look at getting new rims I think. With all the freak storms and winds we get here I just want to be safe than sorry when on the road. I did get ballsy today and went for a drive the first for the car since 89 in the snow no less for old tires the sure seamed alright until i hammered down and spun them in front of a cop he didn't see it and went on his way  Any good suggestions for rims for bigger tires?

Went with Cooper cobra's 15x8 521P5865 on the back and 15x7 521P5765 in the front front with 15 Pacer Dragstar rims. Looks a lot better now that shes off the 14s haven't went for a drive yet got to love the snow.

With 15x7 rallyes,I went with 235 on the front and 255 on the rear.BFG tires.The stance and width looks great.

I ordered up a set of Maxxis tires from Gripston in Texas.
We'll see how they do this spring.
I went with those tires based on the specs and tread, not a lot of sipes to  cause tread squirm H rated and lower utg tread . All pluses to me.
also they have great tire sizes. I would love a set of 275/55x15 tho.
