Well, I got it figured out. I have an a.m. radio in my '70 and wanted to keep it looking stock - but with IPOD capability. So, here's what I did. first, I spent about $12 bucks on an accessoary (power) outlet, ran a wire under the console and hid it in the counsel. I then spent $5.99 for some 3 inch speakers (and wire off ebay) which I then hid behind my rear panels (no holes) - but near the light (convertibles have holes in the lower portion of the rear panels with courtesy lights). Since the IPOD couldn't power the speakers enough just from its output plug to headphones, I found a "mini-automobile amplifier" on ebay for $13.00 (Hong Kong) - including shipping. It arrived today and works! So, I now can plug my IPOD into the amp and listen to my tunes (I also disconnected the single front speaker and the old a.m. radio sounds better too). I had to buy another $20 bucks or so of stuff from radio shack (12 V. power cord for the Amp that plugs into the new power outlet).... and a short RCA plug wire from the IPOD to the Amp -- but for less than $50 I think I'm all set!
I've enclosed some pics of the Amp and speakers if anyone in curious (Amp is only about 5 inches long), has bass, treble & volume!
