I got a little more carb tuning on the 499, but I just chained the engine down and went for a short ride. Wade probably remembers the first short ride we took on the short road, with the 446 engine.  This 499 engine feels real good.  forget about first gear with the 410's. Even from an idle it just wastes the tires. Also around 30 mph in second, it breaks them loose now. The carbs still respond excellent and as soon as you hit the pedal they open. I guess some sticky tires are in order now. :burnout:  Shame I will be taking this 499 out and putiing the 318 in it's place. But I will find another body some where for this stuff.  It sounds good to listen to solid lift cams again. And the sound of forged pistons. With the stock 6pk exhaust on the car you can really hear the attitude of this engine.  There is a chance I may put the 2 inch headers on with 3 inch exhaust and the mufflers stroker sent me.  It will give me 45 more ponies I do believe.

Thanks for helping me wade, and now it's time to clean up the shop

Alan as many trips around the country that you make there are probably members who might be interested in purchasing one of your Big Blocks if they knew you could deliver.   :2cents:

Weren't you considering a trip to the mid-west soon?

And if you run across a set of 308? heads for oh say $80 bucks or so pick them up for me...OK?

Ugh, I twisted myself into a pretzel trying to make it happen. A lot of things factored in but the kicker was being gently reminded of a few home projects yet to be finished.   :bricks1:   As much as I would have loved to put my new TomTom to the test I will have to respectfully bow out on the engine Alan. I already had a course mapped out too.   :walkaway:

I live about 750 miles from you, but that kind of a deal on an engine that strong and getting to meet MoparAl in person would just about make it all worth while.   I can't wait to see what that 499 ends up going into!

It's in my m46 car for right now.  Funny thing is that no body believes me when I say im putting the 318 in it before long.  The 499 seems to have a bunch of power. Even with the ported 906 heads I bought from Jason. By the way, the whole bottom end is from 440 source. But I bought all the pieces seperate and had them balanced here myself. I did have to hone out the bushed 440 source rods about a half a thou and work on the crank just a little, but you usually have to in any assembly build you do. I do like the combo tho, and the lunati solid cam seems to be a real good choice for this combo to
