heater door for Defrost vs floor heat
« on: February 10, 2010 - 09:37:59 PM »
For non a/c heater, 1974, concerning the door for heat/defrost...is the door supposed to completely shut off the defroster ducting when set to floor heat?  Doesn't look right to me, maybe Ive got the door in backwards.
Anyone got a pic they can post?

I thought the same thing.  I'm in the middle of restoring my box too.  The door doesn't seal completely to the side of the housing.  There is a good sized gap there.  The screw hole in the door is centered so switching it around isn't going to do anything.  The only thing I can think is that the origonal foam stuck out farther and sealed it off.  The thin plastic backing from the origonal foam looked like it stuck out farther than the replacement foam.

The door does seal when you change from heat to no-heat so that was my main concern.

yes, the screw hole is centered, so can't shift the door to one side or the other.  My original foam was 90% missing...just almost dust, so did not help with checking for correct size.
Also, my heater box had been apart.  I followed pics from CC member restorations, but the door doesn't look right.  I'll mess with it some more.
