Well, I said I would give an update and here it is.... (more updates to follow too!)
Well, as I stated before Dave stepped up and gave me great prices on all my sheet metal and glass. A big
to Dave.
I open the packages up this morning and planned spending the day on trying to get a panel or two done. Let me preface this by saying that although my car is very rust free (as you can see by the original quarter panel photo), any panel that wasn't perfect was replaced. Most people would not have touch the panels I replaced, however I wanted to learn more about body work and the best way for me to learn is to get my hands in there and figure it out.
So back to this morning, open the packages and see the direct package from AMD had two small pieces missing, but after a quick call to Dave he had everything taken care of. Made me happy I purchased from him.
Within a couple hours the trunk pan was in place and the trunk extensions were on. The fit was going real good. The quarters lined up real nice with the body lines, however the contour of the shape was a little off. Nothing that wasn't fixable.... even for a guy doing it for the first time! Finished the rest of the panels and reattached the deck lid by 5:00 pm. Everything fit great and I found no major issues. I will say although this is my first time replacing panels, I have done a ton of reading and studying prior. I also had a friend that is good with this stuff helping. His advice defiantly helped.
So my final thoughts are the AMD stuff is good. So good practically a cave man can do it.
