should there be a chrome strip round the windscreen
« on: February 14, 2010 - 07:08:16 PM »
hi, the 1967 barracuda my dad has just bought, it looks like it is missing a chrome strip round the windscreen that go's in the rubber, and same with the back windscreen. it has been replaced with a black rubber which looks cheap, so i was wondering if i could source the part, and if anybody could tell me the right name for the part, i live in the uk,

cheers

No trim for the '67, that started with the '68 models.

I may be wrong.

I just checked the original ads here;

http://www.hamtramck-historical.com/photos-va-2.shtml

The '67 Barracudas shown have the trim.

The three I have owned did not & there was no sign of any clips to hold it in.  :dunno:

I do not have a copy of the 1967 Barracuda data book, so maybe it was an option?

67 barracudas have a 1 year only plastic chrome strip that snaps into the window rubber and usually get brittle and the chrome fades out thats why you have no clips.you can put the 68 stainless trim on but you have to install the clips.

From FABO-
67's were one year only gaskets both front and rear. sad to say they are nearly impossible to find. they consist of a chrome plastic locking strip and polished stainless corner peices. you may be able to save some greif and use the 68 and later gasket which is a rope in style that uses chrome trim kept in place with clips. means you have to weld in clip mounts before gasket goes in, but they are way easier to find both used and aftermarket and replace if ever damaged or broken.
