72 Challenger Hinges
« on: February 27, 2010 - 06:18:27 PM »
Trying to rebuild my hinges today. Bought a kid that included upper and lower pins and brass bushings. Top hinge went fine knocked out the bushings replaced them with the new ones, no problem. Went to do the same with the lower hinge and it looks like the bushing is steel not brass. My question is shouldn't there be brass bushings in the lower hinge too. The kit came with eight brass bushings I was assuming they were all brass. Can anyone help?

Thanks,
Brian

not sure about the 72 hinges,  but my 70 didn`t have any bushings before rebuild.   if they have the same outer diametre I`d replace them with the brass ones

So you drilled out the hinge to allow for the bushing?

yes.  Also, you will have to grind off a bit to make room for the edge of the bushing between the hingeparts

Thanks for the info, I really thought that brass was factory installed.
