Shaved Drip Rails
« on: March 11, 2010 - 06:19:10 PM »
I was rolling through Paso Robles last weekend and I saw a very nice 71 Cuda on a trailer sitting outside a hotel parking lot. My first thought was that it was a very nice ride followed by a moment of irritation because I hate seeing mopars on trailers and not being driven'....but anyways, after looking over the car for a minute, I noticed he (or whoever he paid to work the bodywork) took the extensive amount of time to shave the drip rails.

The car looked very nice don't get me wrong, but has anybody else taken the time to do this same mod? Is there any drawbacks to doing this mod? Does it affect any structural integrity or open up the chance to letting water in between the door and roof?

I know it's not a hard mod to do just a very labor intensive one....

I`ve seen this done before ( never seen on an e-body btw ) and most got problems keeping the water out... when driving, the water from the windshield will be pushed right across the sideglass instead of of being moved to the back of the car through the rail... nice mod if you live in california  :dunno:

Did you get any pictures of the modification?
Sounds like it would look cool.

Never seen it on an E-body either....kind of threw me for a loop.

Wish I had a camera with me when I saw the car but my **** phone takes pretty pathetic pictures.
