Comon , you really really wouldnt feel good about your build by not knowing. Cause if you have any type of timing issue at all, you will always wonder and not be sure. We can walk you through this, it is easy and quite simple just to check and see where you are at. Do you have 2 dial indicators? While the heads are off it is super easy. Here is a pic of my race engine I saved for just this purpose to show kinda what goes on.
a degree wheel a pointer and 2 indicators works well. And remember to do this on the intake lobe off the cam
Find top dead center on the piston. Use the center of the piston because it will rock. Install your degree wheel and ounce you have tdc, take like a clothes hanger wire and a bolt and put iwhere it ponts to tdc, then install a dial ind., on the intake lobe. Long stem works best. zero the dial on the top of the lobe, turn the engine and then write down when the lobe goes 20 thou over center. Write that number down. Then you can even go 50 thou and write it down to. Then just keep rotating the engine untill you come 50 thou before tdc, write it down, then 20 thou, write it down. Im telling you at 20 and 50 so you can use one or the other or both in checking. Add the 2 , 20 thou numbs, togeter and devide by 2, or /and add the 2 50 thou nums together and devide by 2. Both will come up with the same number. like 106 , 108 , 110 what ever. check it over and over doing it all again and again. the more you do it, the easier it gets.
