Mass-Flo EFI Set-Up....
« on: March 04, 2010 - 09:48:55 AM »
I was looking at possibly turning my old Carb'd Dodge pick-up into a fuel injected set-up. It's got a mild 360 with a mid-size cam/edelbrock heads & intake and was curious if anyone has used the Mass-Flo EFI set up before and what the pro's & con's were.

Is it worth the $$$ for the better driveability / response? Does the system really perform as well as it is hyped??

Has anybody used it in a high HP motor? Just thinking down the road for when I have my 550 hp 383 in the cuda....

All the modern, plug-and-play EFI systems are good. Mass-flo's system uses a mass airflow meter, as opposed to a manifold absolute pressure sensor, to control fueling. This is an inherently better design for self-tuneability; it requires no re-mapping of fuel or spark curves, and self-learns at a faster rate than a MAP-controlled system can. It is also less sensitive to component changes; a differet intake manifold, headers, or a camshaft upgrade seldom requires any more than a few minutes of driving it to re-learn the fuel curves, so it can use the new parts to their best advantage. I am not knocking the MAP systems, just expressing my preference for the MAF system, and why I like them. I haven't used any of them, but I read about them, and wish I could afford it. You pays your money, and you makes your choice.

I converted a 68 RR to EFI , it is a serious 440 engine making over 700 gross hp & it is totally drivable , it idles well & run great , as long as the fuel system will flow enough fuel to support the HP EFI will work great even on very powerful engines

Wow...I like the sound of that! Did you go with a kit like the Mass-Flo or did you buy the componants yourself?

bought the components from different suppliers , the injectors werew Bosch , the throttle body was a 1200 CFM Accufab , intake was edlebrock victor predrilled with rails , the pumps were Walbro , the computer is a SDSEFI until that comes with a hand held programmer so no laptop is required
