Your all right I too beleive it to be a good time to buy. And although prices are down for these cars so is the whole economic situation. I only borrowed once for one of our cars, and paid that ballence off in less than six months. But even though you may be able to borrow for a vintage car that kind of loan today will/may be hard to get and the interest rate will be considerable. I also beleive the more sought after and especially the rare optioned cars although now less will not represent the "deal" the other cars show. And also as always is the case a drivable/restored car will cost you less than buying a project car and restoring it. Market prices are down but because of the job situation shop owners are walking the balance beam, they are limited to as how far they can "cut a deal" on restoration. Their cost have probably esclated, not much wiggle room for them, they need to keep that shop open, that is in many cases their sole livelyhood.

But no matter the market, the bottom line is what your personal finances will allow you to do? As has already been stated, don't overextend yourself. Good luck.  :2thumbs:

I did some horse trading to get my Challenger about 6 months ago.  Financially it was a *****, especially since I have had to put a few $k into it to get it mechanically sound and running.  But I am starting to get back ahead.   I could not have done it 2 years ago.

all i have to say is that it took me 6 years to strike a perfect deal to buy my Charger.  I think, you're in the right time to buy one.

These cars we're all into are considered "speculation" items.  Other people mistaken them for investments.  WHen I say speculation, I mean that the prices of these cars will vary from year to year and it depends on the demand.  Based on my experience shopping around, I find that most people are hurtin for money right now.  I bought mine from the previous owner because of 2 main reasons:

1) he bought the car by taking money out of his home equity.  In other words, he's in dept.
2) he had a 1970 Buik GSX he was restoring and he likes that car more.

If you fin the right one (car), you'll know it.
My seller was a real nice guy and spent all day going over the car and letting me test drive it around the neighborhood.

Other sellers I didnt buy from, sold their cars for more money than I could afford and they were all impatient with me.

It is a time now to buy.  You must be patient and be willing to shop around.  There is a state of denial with many owners now.   Many bought into the market when it was on fire quickly erode.  Those same owners are in a strange stage of denial.  They are unable financially or unwilling to see their car worth sometimes considerably less.   To a seller who can financially afford to sit on their car and not sell, its best to do so.   Others need to sell due to distress of one kind of another.   Others will advertise their car month after month after month after month for more money than they will ever see.  Dont fall in love with any one car that you must have, and cant live without.  Its those buyers who bail others out.

Glad I bought my Cuda(tribute) 2 years ago when the pound was worth $2.The current exchange rate sucks, about $1.43. Now is not the time for us U.K. guys to be raiding the states for Mopars. :violin: Suppose that is good news for you guys across the pond.
