727 to 4-speed carpet question
« on: March 05, 2010 - 01:32:18 PM »
i am looking into converting my challenger to a 4-speed car while its torn down and being painted, i have a brand new carpet kit for it, but its for an auto.   i have read all the threads on the convertion and parts needed but i didnt see anyone mention anything about carpet, can it just be modified (cut) to fit over the 4-speed tunnel?

You might be able to make it work, but probably will not look right.  If you are going to put a console in, it might hide most of the extra bumps and dimples.

Buy some new carpet, it will be the cheapest easiest part of the swap.

I think it is hard enough to try and make an already molded 4-speed carpet lay in tight against the hump, so I think you would havfe some trouble with a 727 carpet.

:iagree: Get new carpet the auto carpet will not fit over the 4 speed hump very well and it won't look very good either
