thats a good question as I will be restoring the AC in my 72 Cooder. I know VintageAir makes kits for a limited number of older cars but recommends there universal kits for most mopars. Performance wise, which is the better system? OEM or VintageAir?

I know Classic Auto Air has a replacement kit specifically for e-bodies and some upgrades for b-bodys also.  The kit for e-bodies was designed for non-ac cars.

Who makes a better system?  Classic Air or Vintage Air?

thats probably going to be preferance. I would look for the closest supplier/dealer and price and parts complete in kit. and go from there.

I wouldnt waste your time with aftermarket stuff. if you just need the box, look for a parts car or on ebay for the A/c box. you can still find them.

We're in the process of putting in a new Vintage Air unit.  You're right, for an e-body you have to use their "universal" kit.  It hasn't been a piece of cake so far.  We've had to fabricate the new interior venting and are having to figure out a way to fit their control panel into the original hole for the a/c...it's 1/4 larger.  Once we figure it all out, I think it will be a great unit.  The thing we didn't like about the original was the big black compressor sitting in front of the engine.  The Sanden compressor is much smaller and looks oh so much better...imo.
