Options question...
« on: January 08, 2004 - 02:15:43 PM »
Just bought a '70 challenger with some options not on the fender tag, no buildsheet avail. Question is: are all options represtented on the fender tag, or just some with the rest on the buildsheet?  Car has flip-top gas cap, wheel lip molding, tuff wheel, and power steering, none of which are coded on the fender tag. Previous owner said PS is included as a 'package' in one of the coded options (super trak-pak maybee?), I am a recovering chevy guy and this is my first MOPAR...please help!

Welcome
There is not enough room to fit all the options onto the fender tag & a lot of the small options such as the flip top , steering wheel  & power steering were build sheet only items
Glad to help you recover from the Chev illness  ;D

Welcome to the board! Sounds like you've got a really nice car.  Chryco (and many others on the board) can probably answer any mopar question you may have.  Stick around.  Post some pics of your car if you can...we'd love to see them.

FM3V6M, There are "many" All possible options are listed on the broadcast sheet.. it's really the fingerprint of a car.. whereas the fendertag is a picture.

Did you look?? One day afeter work I decided to turn the car upsidedown looking for one.. since it was almost a survivor when I got it.. raced ny Ed Hamburger. I found "TWO".. 1 under the driver's seat and another (great condition) taped w/ 30+ yr old masking tape underneath the glove box.. felt like i hit the lottery..  :D

Give it a shot.. i know someone who found one behind the front seat backing and under the org carpet. However, having the fendertag.. matching the cowl etc is great. Let's see this thing..   ;D

Just a question to add to this.  Where is the Flip Top gas cap code on a build sheet?

Didn't think of this last time but Power steering is quite a major options and should be on the fender tag.
The guys at DC would "usually" place that one on. That aint no small item.  :P ;)

Isn't H51 the air conditioning code ? ,  whereas power steering is s-77 or something like that.  Don't have power steering/ manual steering codes on my fender tags.

The fender tag will show all the equiptment that would require a body modification...IE...spoilers, power brakes, heat and A/C options, rallye dashes (extra firewall holes), radios (antennas), etc... it's a body tag. The broadcast sheet will show all equiptment on the car.
