Was there much oil on those bearings? that is they look very very dry.   :faint:

There was oil on them when they were removed.....what does the relief valve do?  I assume a stuck relief valve just stops the flow of oil???

The stuff I see are contaminates that damaged the crank journal and took off the outer layers of bearing, and the hot spot in the center of the rod which tells me the big ends were more than likely not round when it was assembled. That's not normal wear. What do the mains look like? How many rods are like that one?

the relief valve maintains the max pressure & allows oil to bypass inside the pump instead of allowing the pressure to climb
