Oil Pressure wire
« on: March 10, 2010 - 11:34:00 PM »
on the 70 Chall engine harness I believe the grey wire at the upper right side of the engine harness beside the Violet wire is for the oil pressure , I have no clue where my service manual is

Looks like the tach wire goes thru a grommet into the passenger compartment.

The oil pressure wire is gray and goes thru the bulkhead connector.  Has a drk blue on one side and a drk grn/red on the other.  The violet wire to the temp unit is in the next row and just above or below depending which way the pic is oriented.  Looks like you have it to me.

The violet water pump wire should have a 90 degree bend plug up fitting on it where it just slides on the terminal, the gray oil wire should be a slip on spade connector.  No eyelets like coil wire would have.  I think the eyelets on a 70 were a d more than round to fit the coil terminals to

the wire is in the bulkhead plug at the top beside the violet temp wire , there is enough left to tell it was grey but it is cut off so it doesn't have the spade type end anymore , I have 2 grey wires through the bulkhead connector ,the second one is at the bottom of the plug , the wiring changes yeare to year , I guess I can crawl under the dash & trace out the other end

Neil,

This is from my trusty crusty '70 manual. It looks like the second wire down on the right is for the oil. We are going to have a really crappy rainy weekend here, so I will be putting new KYB's on the old boy, but while I'm over there, I can confirm this for you if you'd like.

strange, my '70 book shows two wires next to the violet going to fusible links.....both dark blue...  the wire under these two is gray and goes to the oil pressure sender...

This is on the center plug of the bulkhead connector...

on the bulk head the grey wire next to the  violet (temp) wire goes to the oil gauge,,the other grey wire should be above   a dark green wire(horn),,that is the grey wire for the tac

i have a diagram for a 70 instrument panel,,i can scan it if you need a copy

Here Neil. Sorry I'm late on this. I usually check electrical everyday.

Viewed from the engine side. You were right about the position.
