Cuda AAR Rear Spoiler Installation.....Water Leaks
« on: April 20, 2010 - 01:22:25 PM »
For those who have installed a rear AAR spoiler from First Place Auto (or other mfgr)....did you have any problems with water leaks into the trunk afterwards? If not, did you use any sort of silicone/sealer?   Spoiler didn't come with any instl. instructions....I cant imagine it not leaking afterwards.  Any info. on this subject would be appreciated.

Any spolier, to include the chin spoilers, and in my opinion, anything that screws into metal  (Like the side mirrors), should always have silicone.  It not only keeps out leaks, it prevents rust from getting under the paaint where the screws go into

You need a sealer. Black RTV. (silicone)

Did you use the seals around the studs?

I havent installed it yet but mine didnt come with any seals.  The hardware mounting kit only included the T-Bolts, washers and nuts.  Its the AAR ductail type spoiler from First Place Auto.  Should the mounting kit have included seals?

Well, if I was selling the kits, I would include them. I know they are available somewhere.

I am thinking it should have a rubber seal too.
