Calling all photoshop artists
« on: March 18, 2010 - 10:26:38 PM »
Can someone photshop this for me? I'm not good with PhotoShop but I would like to see what it would look like. Looks hot in my head like a couple of cheerleaders but i need to know what it looks like when she is all said and done. My car is off to the body shop in three weeks and I hope it looks like i am imagining it.  I would use this picture in my profile until my car is complete and then I will post the real pictures. I have the idea of exactly what I want my car to look like but i'm a little worried that it might be too much black out. Picture this....A 1973 Rallye challenger hardtop (No Vinyl Roof), Citron Yella, 72-74 Rallye stripes down the doors, 1970 Go-Wing Spoiler Matt Black, 1970 bumblebee stripe kit Matt Black, 1970 Rally Hood blacked out with R/T cutouts Matt black, 1970 T/A front spoilers (eyebrows) Matt black. Mirrors the same color as the car. 15 inch Rallye wheels with 235 60R 15 Front & 275 60R 15 Rear. Chrome wheel well moldings. The stance of the car will be as shown in this picture attached. I'm not sure if I posted this in the right place. I'm dying to see what this car will basically look like. Thanks to anyone that can help. If not...could you lead me in the direction where I might be able to get the software to do this. I want to try to create this before I have to take my car in. I would hate to spend all of that money and not like it. Any feedback would be appreciated.

That's one I'm going to have to see to make a final judgement on.  From your descripsion it seems kind of busy to me.  Your mixing and matching things from many different years.

The hood blackout will probablly look OK but I wouldn't have the R/T cutouts on it.  No R/T's after 71 so I think it would look out of place.  Same think with the bumble bee stripe on the rear.  I don't think it would look good with the 72-74 strobe stripes but would look good by itself.

That is just my opinion...it's your car and you can built it however you want.  Hopefully someone will be able to give you a rendering of it so you can make the call.  I hope it turns out just how you want it to.

:iagree: I have no problem with mixing and matching elements, but you need to do so with a specific theme in mind. Not a theme based on what came on any given year, but a theme based on how design elements work together. the 72-74 strobe stripes, in particular, just don't work with the other elements in my opinion.

On the other hand, I don't have any problem with R/T hood callouts on a car that never had them. that's more of a historical v. clone/tribute choice.

I appreciate the responses. I'm listening....The only thing that I kinda figured would not maybe look right would be the bumblebee stripes with the strobe stripes. I know that the T/A Front Spoilers were only on the T/A I believe. I have never seen a car that they looked bad on. I can't see how the Go-Wing would not go with the strobe stripes. I'm not criticizing at all, Just trying to understand. I think if your mind set is for correctness, then yes I'm missing and matching years and it's out of place. Let's take the hood blackout for instance....That's like saying that the 72-74 challengers were not R/T's. They were not called R/T's, they were called Rallye Challengers that had the options that an R/T had in previous years (not all). So I should not put the R/T cutouts in the hood because it was not an R/T?  I'm more into what looks good together. I like your feedback.....This will help me make my decision. i'm glad that you pointed the Bumblebee stripe out to me. I was kinda concerned about that. In your opinions What else do you believe may not go right with what I put together. I'm listening believe me. Also My bumpers have been changed over to 70 bumpers. I forgot to add that. Also, Do you think it would look better with Chrome or painted mirrors?

What makes it hard to explain this is that it's not a black-and-white subject. I have a natural feel for what constitutes good design, and I use it in photography all the time. Problem is, een though I'm also a writer (by trade) I don't have the vocabulary to express the design concepts. Like Jesse Helms with porn, I know good design when I see it, but I don't really know how to describe it.

Maybe some of the folks who have more formalized graphics training will weigh in.

Why don't you go to the hardware store and buy three or four rolls of painters tape.  You can lay the tape on the car to mimik the bumble bee stripe and the strobe stripes.  That will give you a good idea of what it will look like.  I agree that the T/A front spoilers and the rear wing will look good.  The only concern I had was what both of the stripes would look like together.  Also, I still think the R/T should be left off unless you are NOT going to install the strobe stripes.  If you are just going with the bumble bee then the R/T hood blackout would work...kind of like what a 73 Challenger would look like IF the factory made one.

I'd first go get some tape and lay out your stripes.  It shouldn't take more than a half hour and you'll be able to walk around the car and see every angle.

That sounds like a very good plan. Laying out the strobe stripe will be a bear, though. I think it's important to mock that up with the rest, because I think (gut reaction, again) that the treatment of the strobe, the way the individual stripes are broken up, is the primary thing that won't work well with the others.

Re: the side stripe with the bumblebee, if you look at the box for the 70 Challenger from AMT (the original box from about 25 years ago), it has a combination that's roughly the 70 side stripe flowing into the bumblebee stripe. I actually always liked that look on the model, but I know a lot of others didn't care for it.

To Bee or Not To Bee.........      I've always thought I would, on a bright color & the go wing I donno.. Starts to look cartoonish at some point.  Personally I'd leave the go wing off but that's just me.

Just get Aaron Beck to do a chop...  Save you time and money for the tape.

Just do a search from chops on this site and you will see what I am talking about.
