Just thought I'd pass this info on for anyone that is planning on leading the seam.
As you see in the last post I made on Moparts. I ended up e-mailing Resto Rick.
I did my leadwork on the sail panel areas on my Cuda last year. The drivers side was a little harder to do. That side was never very true even from the factory. So the leveling of lead really needed to spread out further. Problem is: it gets too thin on the edges. So what I did was filled in the main deep weld seam with lead after I welded the two together really good. P/S was by far easier to do.
My question is: Do you think I should re do this area so that there isn't any gap like in the picture?
His answer:
Hi Mike,
I usually end up doing a light swipe of plastic filler
after a coat of epoxy primer over the lead, to perfect
the transition.
With yours, I'd like to see the lead area extend a bit
further down, over the step edge.
It's not too difficult to add a bit more lead at this point...
Rick
