Can anyone tell me about and Offenhauser 360 manifold?
« on: March 20, 2010 - 01:11:20 AM »
Hi all from  :aussie:
Had a chat with my mate this morning and he tells me my 360 Cuda [still in Cali] has a Offenhauser 360 intake manifold on it [no other markings] Also has an Edelbrock 1406 Carb.
The motor is stock 30thou over 360, static comp is supposed to be 9.:1 With a full flowmaster exhaust , headers etc.
IS that a good setup? Is there anything I can do easy that would make a difference, I dont want a revving engine, just a good "street" motor.

Regards, Rob.

Really good manifold for the low end but will not make high RPMs very well. My son had a 360 on his 440 and when he replaced it with a Street Dominator the car pulled up 500RPMs more with no other changes IE no timing, no jet changes.

they were a very interesting manifold with dual ports in each port seperating the front & rear thottle plates inside the manifold so it has excellent throttle response but not a great higher Rpm intake for sure

Thanks for the reply guys. So would you say the 360 is an improvement over a standard manifold, even in the top end?

Sounds as though its not to bad as I much prefer a torque type motor to a revving motor for the street.. Let the riceburners frantically change gear for speed, I like to just squeeze the foot down and ...gone before they can catch up.. :clapping:

A friend has the offy dual port on his 440.  Requires a very rich mixture to run correctly.  Offy cut down the center divider so they must have realized the small ports were not flowing well.
One of the magazines did a 12 or 14 intake manifold comparison on a big block mopar...the offy 360 had the worst performance of the entire test; that includes stock cast iron intakes.   IMO I would pass on it.

You won't do better than the Performer RPM on a SB Mope. The LD340 comes in a close 2nd.  :2cents:
