OK guys, we finished...all went well.

First we used the Eastwood PRE to clean the metal surfaces on the new tank.  That actually took quite a while...it seemed to bleed an oily substance for quite a while...but eventually it came pretty clean.  We then used the Eastwood Tank Tone flat gray to paint it.  Looked very nice.  First pic.

The pad we ordered didn't seem to fit...was too small....so we cut it to fit the areas of contact only...and that seemed to work out well.  Second pic.

Installed the sender stuff and new inlet grommet.

Then re-installed the tank and straped it in.  Third pic.  Fired the car up for the first time in months....sounded very nice.  And no gasoline smell in the garage!

On some of these jobs, you have to adapt and do whatever it takes. That's the fun of owning an older car.

Good job.   :2thumbs:

i think it was actually years!  after a very long hiatus, it was great to drive the car again.  with what we got from eastwood, the tank looks better than it did before.  per chrycos recomendation we went with the zinc color spray which i think looks great.  im excited to drive the car again more this spring/summer

Tank looks great guys! Let see some pics of that thing cruising the streets!

P.S.- still working on the DIY incentive thing. It's on the "list" just have some other promotions we are working on that seem to be more on the "front burners" so to speak..
