Carpet
« on: April 02, 2010 - 12:41:54 PM »
Workin the rear section need some advice.
K, laying out the carpet, they say it's larger than I need but I'm getting paronoid about cutting it short so here's a few questions for you guys!

1st I made some slices around obsticles & then I froze

Need to know how much I leave over the doorsils to be secure under the sil plates & where to cut it(at front & rear of the plates) & around the area where it meets the quarter panel interior trim.

front & rear carpet overlap quite a bit which one do I shorten quite a bit so it's not double under the sil plates(or can I leave it double(seems a BIT thick to leave both) & still get the plate flush.

Is there a way to kinda put a slice in it so it lays in good where it comes up from the floor pan to the rear quarter areas when you press in it pulls the topstuff in a bunch.

Now if any of that was clear to you your a better man than I, all hints & suggestions appreciated!  Rich.

I usualy leave about 1" over the body seam under the sill plates , I trim the lower carpet off & use the upper /front carpet to hold it down , I trim it close to the body seam behind the kick panels & leave it up about 1.5" behind the kick panels , I have never sliced it in the rear between the floor up under the rear seat, if it is molded correctly it should sit in there well

Wait to trim the sides until all the interior is in, seats & belts, that took up some slack in mine.

You guys are good, I did get the seat belts in the drivers side & then laid out the front & made my cuts & slices around the shifter, hope I have it close , now I'll work my way out to the sides, I put my seat belt wires under the carpet(made a small hole under the retactor) Now I have to see if it reaches the pass side one, looks like it's gonna be close.
I ment slicing the high part so it will bend over the top easier, I may hvae to adjust the outside seat belt hole a little, it seems more wadded up than it did before, I'm close I'll keep tweekin it.
hard to see in the pic but this is that back corner & my cuts by the shifter.Thanks,Rich.
