Keepin the stance??
« on: April 05, 2010 - 08:56:53 PM »
I just replaced my crappola rear air shocks with Rancho 9 ways. I also have Caltrac bars going on. My problem is that I loved the stance the car had with the air shocks. With the new shocks the car has dropped another 1/2 inch or so and is sitting too low in the back. I know it is do to the 38 year old springs. What springs can I go with that will keep the stance like it appears in this picture??

I would be very interested in the springs as I already have the 9 ways installed and caltrac bars sitting on the shelf ready to install. Calvert offers two different springs one of which is supposed to be about an inch lower than stock. If those are the springs you have then I'm ready to wheel and deal. :2thumbs:

I dont think you would have any problems selling the caltracs and shocks together. I bought mine with no intentions of replacing the springs. Many people run caltracs and 9 ways on stock springs. Let me know.

The original owner of my 73 Barracuda installed Chrysler hd springs years ago because she towed her boat with it.  You can still see where the hitch was bolted to the bumper.  Its got decent Monroe gas shocks and the 275/60-15 tires just barely 'kiss' the edge of the wheel well opening.  It's hard to tell how tall your tires are but they look shorter than mine and from the picture I can tell yours sits lower over the tires than mine.  So if you were to install similar springs on yours I suspect you might even have a gap between the top of your tire and the fender lip.  I expected to have to replace the springs when I bought it but I don't think I will now as it rides & sits just fine the way it is including a slightly nose-down stance that I like best.

Cheap answer, turn down the t-bars. Better answer, install new springs.
