70 V code cuda
« on: April 07, 2010 - 10:40:29 PM »
I am starting to dust off my 70 V code cuda, and decode the numbers. I would like to try to find out production numbers and find out if the block that is out of the car is original. What should it have on the engine ID pad in front of the intake manifold, the cuda's production date is 12-18-69

To know if it matches the car it is in you need to look for the partial VIN on the block. Look on the passenger side of the block, down low. There is a raised pad, it should have 8 charters.

I will check that out. What should be on the other ID pad up front. I think it says F440 HP2 and some other numbers. It has been years since I have looked at it.

F440 HP2

F - Series (model year) 1970

440 - 440 cid

HP - High Performance

2 - Assembled on second shift.

The other stamps have other meanings about the build itself.
