71 Cuda fender gills
« on: June 24, 2010 - 02:40:51 PM »
Hello
I need to replace the fender gills on my 71 Cuda conv, they are pitted and chrome is dull. What is the best repro avaible today? The Goodmark stuff or PG Classic stufff from China? First one go for 175, other goes for 250....who has compared these repros?
Thank you

When I built my 71 cuda I got my gills from PG Classic (BEA Parts in the US) and they were great. No experience with the Year One pieces.

Well, I'm probably reading the advertisment wrong, but...
On eBay, Columbia Parts Co: FENDER GILL KIT CUDA 71 1971 E-BODY FENDERS GILLS.

Ad says: Brand new licensed fender louver gills  brackets hardware and gaskets for a 1971 Cuda E-body . Excellent quality and fit.

In our opinion these fit the CHL / Goodmark fenders as well as original fenders better and have a much better finish than the made in China gills also on ebay. This listing is obvously for a full set enough to do one car.

Price: $178.95

The ad pictures the Gills and all mounting hardware.

It's only 3PM, I havent ahd that many beers yet.  What am I misunderstanding???? :clueless:  For that price, I'll buy an extra set for my neighbor's Caravan  :money:

I just wish they'd get the silver paint on them right. It's a shade too dark.

Originally, the chrome plating underneath on OEM one's would almost shine thru the paint. Makes em really stand out in the sun.

TC-
I can live with the color difference.
But, what's up with that price tag?
Other vendors are asking a whole lot more $$$$

Antonello,

Are you selling your old set?

Ok, I ordered the set up from Goodmark.
I don't think I want to sell the old set....I am sentimentally attached to old parts....besides i have another 71 cuda that I will restore....

Had to ask.  Thanks.

Please let us know what your opinion is about the new gills when you get them.
