Paint q's
« on: April 07, 2010 - 09:52:55 PM »
I got the Challenger running good, so while I aquire parts and the $$ to build my 340 I am going to work on some cosmetic stuff.

In my line of work I paint alot, so I have the gear. I shoot nitrocellulose and acrylic lacquer and a little urethane.

Here are the things I need to refin on my '70

TA Spoiler
Grille <black>
Keystone mag black centers
Inside rear view mirror bracket <silver>
Front turn signal silver
Backside of the rear lights in the trunk

What is the best type of paint to use for these parts?  I know the black is not gloss or is it flat. Also what type of paint? I am thinking the same black is used on the spoiler ,mags, and grille.

I am thiking argent flat silver for the turn signal, rear lights, and mirror.

The black parts were all originally organisol.  If you don't want to spring the big bucks for that particular paint, I've used rustoleum satin black on numerous occasions with excellent results.  For the mirror bracket etc, I personally recommend Dull Aluminum spray bomb

1972 Dodge Demon - "new" project

AND TOO MANY OTHER MOPARS THROUGH MY HANDS TO COUNT

for the black i've been using SEM trim black and they come out real nice with just a bit of texture like you want.
