I have the torque thrust IIs and the metal cap interferes with my socket.
I've removed the wheels at least 10 times in the past few weeks since I got them, and the caps now have 5 grooves worn in them from my socket. You have to hold the socket loosely at an angle to drive the lugs in.

the caps aren't supposed to be on when you mount the wheels to the car.  I had a set of TT2s, and it was an annoyance.

thanks, the TTIIs are not like the Cragars, sorry, just wanted to point out that the Cragars arent the only wheel that make it difficult to use a standard deep socket wrench.

Spoke with Summit today.  Apparently I have the wrong lug nuts.  The SS 61 Series that I have take a conical shaped lug nut with no washer.  Maybe this would account for having to retighten every 1000 miles.  I haven't heard that before but without a lock washer of some kind I can see where they may loosen over time.

That is how the Torque Thrusts are.  The conical end of the lug nut centers the stud as it is tightened.  As for the center cap rubbing, there are two options.  One is to remove the cap every time you need to take a wheel off.  The other is to get a smaller diameter lug nut that uses it's own attachment that goes in the end of the socket.  When I had my wheels mounted at Discount Tire, they sold me a set of those and it is worth it.

With the proper lug nuts, the center cap is safe.  Just don't use a lug wrench.

The problem turned out to be the wrong lug nuts.  There are two different types.  The SS612 models use a conical shaped lug nut.  The ones Jegs sent me had a big oval shaped washer.
