power valve for the carb
« on: April 11, 2010 - 06:34:51 PM »
My power valve for my carb keeps going out. Is there a kit out there that will replace the power valve. I thought I heard of a kit that replaces the valve with a spring and bearing and some drilling for the carb?? Any help would be great! Thanks

Yes there is but its really not needed. It installs in the base plate. You need to remove the carb and take the bottom plate off the main carb body.

Sure is nice to have in case of a backfire but backfire happens rarely on a motor tuned right. Unless a valve is leaky. Not sure if too lean of jetting  can cause it, maybe and is the motor backfiring when first started? If so it should be jetted a bit richer.

But yeah, you just drill a hole in the P.V. vacuum passage in the baseplate and tap the unit in and re install the base plate.

:wave:this kit does not replace the powervalve,it protects it from backfiring as the pv membran is fragile.also on later aftermarket holleys the protector kit is innstalled by holley, dont know when they began with that but new carbs has it. ebay 10$
