my water pump pulley doesnt line up with the rest
« on: April 14, 2010 - 10:37:37 AM »
ok heres the story...i bought this car already taken apart, no interior, engine/trans installed.  basically i got the car as a rolling shell and a BUNCH of parts.  now that im putting things back together now that its been painted ive run into an issue with the water pump pulley not lining up with the crank and PS pump. i know this is gonna be confusing so bear with me:  The only pulleys the came with the car were the water pump pulley and the PS pump, i went to a salvage yard this past weekend and picked up a 4 rib crank pulley off an 80's truck.  when i got home i bolted on the crank and found that the pulleys dont line up, so i thoguht maybe its because it was off a different year engine, but then i bolted on the PS pump and find that the ps pump and the crank line up perfectly and the water pump pulley is the "odd man out", but that pulley is the only one that came with the engine  :clueless: .  so basically what needs to happen is the water pump pulley needs to be spaced out or needs to sit farther back on the water pump shaft, but thats not gonna happen. i cant figure it out!!
