What are these plates for?

OK been around mopars like 40 years, but fairly new to owning an e body. Mostly owned all A & B bodies, so here is my ??.

In front of the tire in the wheel well what are the small plates that can removed for?

Sorry for a dumb question, I just would like to know what these access panel are used for on a 70 Cuda? thanks!

the plates remove to adjust the front upper control arms for wheel alignment

Thanks, I kinda suspected it was fo rthat, but it seems at least on my small block car you really do not nede them?

if you leave them off, rain road water , dust and debri will  end up coming through

if you are already under the car it is easier to go through the wheel well to adjust rather than lean over the fender
