What do you need the speed sensor for?

I have a 69 Rambler with a T-10 4 speed in it. I cant find the speedo gear for the tranny and it would be more trouble to remove the transmission than installing a VSS on a wheel or driveshaft. I installed a speedometer in it from Sunpro so I need something to get a signal to it.
