Horror story update
« on: April 17, 2010 - 04:06:24 PM »
I just got my car back after being in two different body shops since Jan 10th.  The car looks pretty good from 5 foot,  any closer and you start to notice the flaws.  Hardly no clear coat on the entire car, doofus painted the clear so thin that when it was buffed there was nothing much left.

Once everything cures out I'm thinking of having the Ziebart Diamond Coat put on to cover up the paint for UV protection.  Anyone have any words on this stuff.  I've heard it's a bear to get off but at least it will protect what paint is on the car.

Thoughts? :feedback:

DO NOT USE IT. It's a polymetric resin and it's a scam. You won't be happy. You must rotary buff your entire car with a wool pad or cutting foam pad to prep it. Then it gets sprayed with the Diamond gloss which is then buffed in with the rotary. Ziebart claims 18 to 24 months for a maintenance application but the junk won't go the distance.

Instead of blowing $400.00 on that - put a couple  more coats of clear on your car. Wet sand it very carefully with 1500 grit sand paper. Do not sand through to the base coat.

I know that sucks but it's a better choice. Your car is worth it.
