Wanted ’70-’74 Barracuda/Cuda driver
« on: May 07, 2010 - 05:31:48 PM »
Hi guys,
May as well throw my hat in the ring with my request.

I have a budget of $16K

Looking for a ’70 – ’74 Cuda  (Barracuda too) I’m actually partial to the ‘72+ tails.

I’m looking for a driver (weekends, etc.) not a project…

I am not a body guy, but can work on engines, electrical, general mechanical, etc.  so I might be willing to take on a rolling body that only needs power.  In that case I’d buy an engine and plug it in ;)  I’m currently limited on garage space so engine rebuilds would be tough.

Prefer a 360 and up…  but won’t turn down a solid 340.  
Manual  tranny preferred, but not required.
Cuda trim… Rally dash, etc.   Not a show stopper.

Does not need to be numbers matching car… blah blah blah… this car is for fun and frolic.

Rally hood (etc.) with working insert/inlet (not sure how much it would cost to replace a straight hood… again if the price is right)
Needs no or very little body work.  I’m all thumbs in this area.
Does not need to be painted…  I can get that done…

I’m really just looking for something that runs and sounds like a cuda…  something I’ll keep and eventually be buried in.  heh!

I’m in So. California and willing to fly out to take a look if things look interesting.

There are a few cars in this range on eBay, but I’m a little uncomfortable with buying in that format.  Would really like to have time to know what I’m buying.

Am I off the mark with that budget?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Alan

if you can hold out a few months i should have mine completed... I have gone nuts... i am fixing everything to make the car look mint. I am in the process of finishing up the heater box rebuild and will be reinstalling the interior... i have ordered thousands in parts so far to get the car lined out. Some of the parts consist of chrome grill inserts, new radio $600 all new wireing harness from year one, new floor plugs, new shocks, new brake pads, new fire wall inslation, all new polly urathan bushings for the whole car, both gas tank groments and vibration pad, all new rubber bumpers, new tick tock clock, new light tubes for ralley cluster, new package tray and insulation, complete jack and new craiger smoothy wheel to use as a spare, new glove box insert, new interior srew kit. There is more i just cant think of it all... i have been media blasting and repainting every part also.  Any ways there is still lots more to do... should be complete in 2 or 3 months. Might be a couple of thousand more than you will be wanting to spend but it should be worth it
