V6X Fender Tag Code
« on: April 27, 2010 - 08:33:31 PM »
It says that it is a "Black Longitude Sports Stripe".  I thought this car would have the 4 "Chatter Stripes" coming out of the fake fender vents.  Am I wrong?  VIN is JS23H2B.  This should be the original fender tag.

The longitudinal tape stripes are the scoop (chatter) stripes on your car.

In addition to that;

B6X Unknown At This Time - Missing a digit, it is your interior code.

A05 Protection group - If this is after the 000, it is your scheduled production date of October 5, 1971 (1972 model year)

V Unknown At This Time - The V is a U, build for US sale.

J54 Hood Insulating Pad - This is actually the sport hood.

C36 Unknown At This Time - It is G36, painted racing mirrors.

Most online decoders suck.  ;)

My fault.  It should be B6X9, what does that add?

Dual scoops AND pad, or no insulating pad?  Are the scoop inserts supposed to be black or body color?

C36 Unknown At This Time - It is G36, painted racing mirrors.

Thanks for your help!

B - Price class B
6- Vinyl upholstery with with bucket seats.
X9 - black

Some cars only got the hood pad with the undercoating option, I do not know if 1972 Challengers got them std. or not.

Hood scoop inserts are body color with a black block off plate inside the hole.
