Did any E bodies come out with tubular headers?
« on: May 17, 2010 - 09:15:45 PM »
Its an odd question but I would like to know if any E bodies, Cuda small block in particular came out with an option of Tubular type headers [or extractors]. Reason being that I wish to have my Cuda "consessionally lisensed" here in Western Australia and the Cuda I have coming has a full Flowmaster exhaust on it with Tubular headers. To have the car on that type of license it must be totaly original. But if it was an option on that "type" of car the I can get away with it.   :2thumbs:

Thanks for the help guys  :burnout:

A dealer accessory option it was available. It was called Hustle Stuff back then before it became Direct Connection. Never as standard or optional from the factory.

:roflsmiley:   Which you could buy at a parts store too.  I am quite sure you will not see that as an install item on any dealer invoice selection   Wouldn't hurt to try.

I actually read...(I don't know where) a long time ago, about a 340 Cuda with headers in the trunk sold new.

The answer is no, no headers from the factory, not even in the trunk.

Dealerships could install them, I know Mr. Norm's would.

Well I need to try!  :faint: This "Hustle stuff " package even if through a dealer maybe enough, If a dealer fitted it its enough to spin Bull Sh*t to the vehicle inspectors here  :blah:.
I just need some sort of evidence..anything guys! Give me anything!!

One other option would be a set of TA/AAR HP 340 iron 'headers' that came on these hotter cars from the factory.  I have a set that I'm going to be installing on my 73.  These won't put out quite the HP that full tube headers would, but no one can dispute they were available from the factory.  Maybe keep this as a plan b if the inspectors don't buy the Mr. Norms argument...

Aghhh Computers just lost my post  :banghead:
Anyway.. I had a look at Mr Norms site and there was a small piece about when headers , performance parts etc were fitted they would place a sticker on the back window.. I was hoping one of you guys may of had something in "hardcopy" like a build sheet or a brochure.. :clueless: something I could shove under the nose.. :blah:

I may be able to say that in America cars are built to order for the customer through the dealer and they could fit them.. Thats the build sheet.
Here in Australia very basic, very few choices, " you want what sort of carburettor package, headers...?? :clueless:" Build a car for you ...NAh mate you can have Auto or manual.. Maybe a colour choice if your lucky  :roflsmiley:
