bullit that article a few pages back,..might just have fixed my two summer long problem....i have a fairly radical hdry roller cam...and i have 7 inches of vacuum at idle...(900)....i went to a 3.5 power valve cause quic fule technology who built it recommended it...ive had a start up smokin problem...only when its cold at start up and after uve driven it then let it sit....then restart it a few hours..its like it dumpin too much fuel...that article kinda sums that up...im wonderin if that been my problem all a long.....about changin that spring deal so the rods arent dumping so much at idle??? hhhhhmmmmmm

sounds like the heat from the intake is boiling the fuel over into the manifold
do you have a 1215 Felpro intake gasket under the intake to block the port , if it is a 440 , if not install the gasket

challydust, The only carb. article I see is from Edelbrock, I'm sure there's some info that would transfer but if you have a power valve chances are it's a Holley or like carb & will not have springs or rods.

hey chryco....does that still hold true about the fuel boiling over,...even if the car is cold?

when you shut the car off hot the fuel will boil over & pool in the intake , even if the car sits until cold the fuel in the intake will not significantly evaporate leaving it rich on restart & if you pump the throttle even just once before starting it it will be even harder to start .
