Lens polishing kits
« on: October 13, 2004 - 09:06:23 PM »
I have been looking for a plastic lens polishing kit for the tail lights, turn signals and so on but can not find them. Does anyone have a good source (besides Year One, I have issue's with them) that carries them? Thanks

We did our lenses with the Nuvo-Shine plastic polishing kit...but we got it from year one.  I've tried to find other places that carry it, but no luck.  It really does work great.

Try www.eastwood.com. If they don't have it, I can look on some other sources.

Nuvo-Shine was what I was trying to find. Heard nothing but good about them. I tried E-bay because it has everything on there but no luck. Tried Eastwood but no luck.

The kit comes with different grits of sandpaper from 600 through 6000.  The only other things in the kit are 2 flannel rags and a small bottle of their polish.  If your lenses don't have deep scratches, you can wet sand them starting at 2400 and work up to 6000.  The last step is to use their polish with some water with the flannel rags.  I think the wet sanding is the biggest part of it.  You might be able to use a Maguires polish instead and get the rest at home depot.

Micro-mesh is a great product - you can buy the KR70 "lite" kit for under $30. It has grit ranges from 1500 - 6000. It has worked very well for me and I have used it numerous times. It is the defacto standard product in the aviation industry for restoring scratched or damaged plexiglass.

Ck it out here:

I second Rev.  I followed her lead, and have been very happy with the results of the Nuvo-shine kit.  A+++
