Intake question

I picked up a cast iron 4 bbl intake last night. The casting number is 4323352-3 and I know it came  of a 360 when it was replaced by an aluminum one. There are 2 threaded holes in the plenums that are new to me. What are they for? Also, I noticed the plate on the bottom has press in retainers, but there's a gap between the plate and the bottom of the intake.
I can take pics if anyone doesn't know what I'm talking about.

Dont know about the threaded holes but the plate on the bottom is a heat shield. It's supposed to keep hot splashing oil off the base of the carb.Always has a lot of crud built up behind it. If you're careful you can pop those rivets out with a bullnose chisel and reuse the rivets.
If I cant fix it, it's broke

Here's the holes I'm talking about.

I'm going to get the intake media blasted to clean it up before I put it on and I'll replace all the plugs/cap screws etc with something a little better looking

I found a website/page that had just about every intake known to man on it. It said that the holes are for EGR. I'm just going to plug them and hope it still works.

That is what they are for,  I have plugged them also.
