Advice needed for new axles

I just got the Moser replacement : 1968 B-body axles that state for (.685 knurl press- in). Is the .652 hole, correct for .685 wheel studs?

.033 seems small but the .685 seems right.  Being knurled, I know it takes a lot of pressing to squeeze them in

Thanks, I called Moser and got through to a tech quickly and he said to press the .685 dia. studs in, and the camp fer looks like it holds the taper and serrations of the stud. He said the Morroso studs are the same they sell. Then the bearing last. I'm moving boxes to get to the press tomorrow. I'll try to photo the job and post it this weekend here.

You are welcome. A couple of people are taking shots at me on these boards and I'm just here to help. Please do post the photos for others to see. I build axles quite often at my paint shop for some of my builds and they can get tricky at times.

The .685 studs would not go with a 12 ton press. The one I tried only went in 3/16". So I used the Mopar Performance ones that are 3" with stock knurl @ .670" tips. Bull crap that Moroso's would go in without re- drilling the hole to .670". Here's the set ups. I like the longer splines, it's thicker, tapered, instead of stepped, and has a solid flange.

I remember doing the same thing many years ago. That's why I said .033 seemed big. The 685's went in my front rotors on my 72 cuda race car. Never could get them in the rear.  Yer on your way now. Now my axles are 5/8ths screw in studs and wire linked together.

That was the "tricky" part of my statement. Stud size can screw you up real fast.  You did a nice job and they look good.

I painted the flanges today, brushed clear grease on the splines, released the bottom brake shoe spring, and after diner, in they go.
