spark plugs!
« on: August 07, 2002 - 11:56:15 AM »
what kind of plugs would you prefer to run in a 340 Cuda engine..that is bone stock, and will probably remain very close to stock?

Looking at getting some new plugs, and the auto parts store has all kinds. Champion..AC..NGK...uhh I forget all the kinds they had.  So..what should I get? :)

well, I just went and bought some ;P  Replaced the battery, plugs, wires, dist. cap, rotor, air filter, oil, and oil filter.

Car seems to run much better..however its idling way high (2000 rpm)  Where is the idle adjustment on the carb, and how do you adjust it?

*edit*  I've heard these carbs suck..now I know why. Seems that the choke was stuck on and not letting the car come down off high idle.

thanks :)  guess now I'll fiddle around with the carb and see if I can tune it some.  Seems like when you whick the throttle hard from lower RPM's it stumbles, yet at higher rpms it doesn't.  I assume the OEM carbs have screw settings on the side, or is it done with jets?

The plugs that were in the car were blacker than a mine shaft with carbon.  The air filter was filthy, which might have had something to do with that...it doesn't seem to burn any oil tho, as the car only has 47,000 miles on it.
