5.7 Hemi question

I found a guy down here that had/has a 2007 Charger R/T that got rear ended and T-boned. The engine is good and only has a little over 8000 miles on it. He told me he would give it to me for 200 bucks if it would fit in the Cuda. I know that you can buy new Hemi's and a computer module so you can run a carb, but can you do the same thing with a new Hemi and just take off the EFI and run a carb? I have a feeling that if it's possible it's going to be a tad on the expensive side, but if I can get the engine for 200 bucks that's going to offset the cost by quite a bit. Also, if it will work, will it bolt up to my 4 speed or would I have to get a new 4 speed as well?

I just went to grab the 5.7 and it turns out that the only thing 5.7 on the car are the Hemi tags on the fenders. It was actually a 3.8 or whatever the little Charger engine is. The guy thought he had an R/T because somebody put the R/T and Hemi tags on the car before he bought it.

Well, that little six-banger will get you 250HP, but I'm guessing you would want a bit more.

Sorry to hear your hemi deal was a flop. Keep your eyes open though and something will turn up if you're patient.

In answer to your question, you can put a carb on these engines and run the ignition with an MSD Hemi-6 controller. You can get a single 4 bbl intake from XV Motorsports for about $600 IF they have them in stock! You can also get an Edelbrock dual 4 intake from Summit or Jegs for about $450 or a modular intake with the top of your choice (single 4, dual 4 or six pack) from Indy for about $600. Forget about the Mopar Performance single 4 bbl intake, they are WAY overpriced at more than $1,000! The MSD Hemi-6 controller will run about $700 with the correct wire harness for your application from either Jegs ore Summit.
