engine help
«

I am trying to put the rear main seal in my rebuilt engine and noticed that the journal (where the rear seal contacts the crank)has some minute pitting. My manual said that the journal should have a diagonal knurled surface pattern. It doesn't. I am beginning to doubt the quality of the machinist's abillities.(remember, I am the one that had the new crank thrust bearing with the maximum end play(.010). Thanks for your help

You can use a rope seal, or since the engine is out and you have the other mis hap, you can as of now get another crank
