8 3/4 rear axle problems

I changed few studs to my drive shaft(axle) because threads were old and worn out. Then i installed driveshaft back to the rear axle tube and adjusted the bearing (right side). Now all studs are too close to brake parts and it wont turn freely. How is it possible? There seems to be adjustment only in right side.

The backs of the wheel studs are hitting the brake hardware? Perhaps they have thicker backs than original. If this is the case, grind down the backs for clearance. I have seen this before, and the grinding doesn't hurt their strength. If it's not that, we need more information.

The right side adjuster adjusts both sides.  I would double check your bearing free play (both sides).

This is correct! I changed only 2 broken studs and all of them are hitting brake hardware. Grinding wont help.
I tried to adjust bearings but its not really working, when i adjust it all the way, both axles still have LOTS of endplay.

This is really weird though, i only removed right side axle and didnt change any bearings etc. What kind of washers/bearings etc should there be between the axles inside the carrier? Could something fall away when i removed the shaft?

Could it be that the thrust button whatever it is called falled off from the rear? There should be some "nappi" inside the carrier which goes between the axle ends to compensate too "short" axles. I'm not sure though, how it could fall off. My open 489 carrier had one and it seemed to be quite tightly in there. For my current setup I have green bearings so it isn't needed anymore.

Anyway, if the thrust button moves easily inside the carrier then mayby it stuck on the axle end when you were pulling it out and then dropped inside the case or axle tube?

I've only seen one thrust button fall off, but it made life very interesting. This sounds like your problem.

The thrust button was dropped off. I got it through the axle tube with long magnet. Everything works correct now, endplay feels right. How is the bearing adjuster supposed to be locked.

there is a lock tab that claws into the adjuster ring & bolts under 1 of the retainer bolts
