throttle body

For one I hate asking this question b/c it feels down right embarrasing. is a throttle body used for fuel injection or can it be used like a carburator?

I've got more questions but i need this one answered first.

it's for injection only... the system runs at a higher fuel pressure. and in the center of the t-body is the injector. also there is a computer to moniter the engine temp, exhaust and a bunch of stuff so the computer "knows" the amount of fuel to bump.computer sends a signal to open the injector.

The throttle body is just the air control valve & the injecter can be mounted above it as Mike said or you can have the injecters mounted directly into the intake port behind the valves with 1 on each cyl

I take that last one back. Would you rather have a throttle body or a carburator?

Money is no option (i don't know what throttle body costs but it probably isn't cheap)

HERE IS SOME QUICK PROS & CONS.

injection with the computer keeps a better handle on fuel ratio. so it has a better chance to give you better fuel mileage.

on the newer cars, it performs better than there carb counter part.

it will have less emissions
                  CONS
if your going to inject and old car. you'll have to do alot of wiring,  put an O2 sensor in the exhaust pipe,

have to upgrade the fuel system by installing a injection fuel pump,special fuel hose to handle the pressure,and a  return line to the tank.

THIS ONE I'M NOT SURE ABOUT...IF YOU USE AN AFTERMARKET INJECTION KIT..YOU MIGHT NEED A SPECIAL TOOL FOR THAT SYSTEM, TO READ THE CODES IN THE COMPUTER IF ONE OF THE SENSORS GO BAD.

Thats good to know. I'm not the biggest fan of injection i like things done the old fashioned way. Given fuel injection is old too, but I like carburators.
